Date: 2008-03-20 02:48 am (UTC)I'm not using it, and I'm debating whether
or not I'll take it with me when I move to
Virginia this summer. I'll throw in the power
adapter that I use for it too.

Date: 2008-03-20 03:01 am (UTC)find out... I have a postage scale though)
I still have that old pentium laptop
with the sound chip you want too...
$10 plus shipping for that as well.
Let me know if you want just
the keyboard, or both, and how
fast you want it, and I'll calculate
shipping for you if you give
me your zip.
I have lots of stuff.
Technically, I could probably give you
some of this stuff as I drive through the
mid-west this summer, but if I bring
it that far... I'll probably keep it.
I want to get rid of stuff BEFORE
I leave Reno... the less I have to
bring with me, the better.

Date: 2008-03-25 12:40 am (UTC)as for the laptop, I'll ship it seperately, but first
I should get you the specs on it, and make
sure it really has the right sound chip in it.
That's why you need it right?

Date: 2008-03-25 04:28 am (UTC)for midi, it says "internal opl2/opl3 synthesis"
...so there you go.
it also says sound blaster 16 compatible
in a different section.
it's a CTX EZBOOK 700.
Pentium 1, 200mhz MMX
16 mb of RAM
3 GB HD
CD-ROM, FD, NO BATTERY
(you can get one or two...
the FD and CD-ROM can
be pulled out and replaced
with batteries on both)
The screen is 800x600 with
either 16bit or 32bit color.
(I don't remember)
The only problem is, it's
a NeoMagic video card.
I do have the Windows 95
driver... and the laptop
has TV out... something
my new laptop doesn't even have.
But if you want to use linux...
good luck. :P I had to look
HARD to get the right NeoMagic
driver... found one on an old Japanese
website about 8 years ago.
I'll even include an old lan/56k PC CARD
that I use for it, but it needs repair,
if you touch it, or bend the cable, it
disconnects. (but it reconnects
if you put it back into position)
I also have a new one I can give you
if you want it... I'll never use it,
and never used it... you'll have
to get the drivers yourself though.
You can get a ram upgrade, and
get it up to 32 mb, but I'll let you
handle it, if you want. 16mb is
really limiting.
In fact, I should let you know what
problems this laptop has.
For one thing, there's no heat management.
It can heat up pretty quickly.
Also, the left screen-hinge is broken.
But the screen doesn't flop around,
you just need to be careful when opening it.
The AC adaptor needs some soldiering
done to it, but it does work... one of the
prongs for the AC cord sometimes
gets pushed into it, and you have to open
it to pull it out, or use needle nose pliers
before it gets that bad. Also, the CD-ROM
is snarky... I think there's a dead spot on
it... but you can always use a LAN
cable or parallel cable to get data on
and off of it.
Oh yeah... the clock is broken.
You need to reset the clock everytime,
or else it will be out of date.
One time, I still said 2003, when it was 2006.
It doesn't reset to 1980... it just
never advances when you shut
the laptop off... right now, it says
2007, only because I updated the
time last year when I loaned it to
my dad so he had something to
play with. If you connect this to
the internet, you can get software
to update the time for you.
Other than that... it still works ok.
I would keep it, but I'm trying
to get rid of EVERYTHING.
(I'm serious too... I'm going to
be moving back east, and I only
want half of a VW Bus load of
stuff to bring with me)
In fact, part of me is compelled
to fix this thing, and use it,
just for novelty sake.
Oh... what else...?
TV-OUT,
VGA,
LINE-IN, LINE-OUT, MIC
PARALLEL
DOCKING PORT
PS2 connection for mouse or keyboard
GAME PORT / MIDI
COM 1
IR
So... still want it?
If I send it to you,
and you decide you don't
want it, maybe I'll pick it
up while I drive through
this summer.

Date: 2008-03-25 04:45 am (UTC)to connect to the internet using the pc-card
I mentioned, and leave this comment.
PROOF it still works... but I'm probably going
to completely format the hard-drive before
sending it to you... and let you deal with
it, unless you want me to install Windows 95
for you with all the drivers, and some extra
partitions for more happy fun time. Good
luck with Linux though... the video is
going to be worse, unless you can get a decent
driver for it... having TV-out might make
this laptop more fun to use... just think,
a portable VCD player you can hook up
to any TV... :P (this laptop is fast enough
to display VCD quality video

Date: 2008-03-25 02:22 pm (UTC)I'm not going to ask you to install Windows or whatever the hell else on it; I can easily take care of that myself and I'll probably just be running damn DOS in the first place. However, there is one thing you can do. Are you equipped to record from it at all -- either through a cable from the headphone jack or just by holding a microphone up to the speaker?
I'm not interested in buying it if I don't know that the knockoff OPL3 in there is decent. I understand if you don't want to do this, but are you equipped/could I trouble you to run a couple programs on it and provide recordings of how they sound? If not, I'll just look elsewhere.
Thanks for your trouble either way!
I am still interested in the MT-100 either way and I will PayPal you for it later today. My MT-100 is pretty beat up (keys starting to come apart; drums never worked right; switches are all flaky) and I am glad of the opportunity to replace it.

Date: 2008-03-25 02:51 pm (UTC)laptop, AND the casio. (just in case you
aren't 100% sure) Oh yeah. The three sliders
along the mid-top are missing their plastic "knobs".
If you still have them on your Casio, you might
decide to use them on mine.
Just tell me what to do, and I'll do it. Sounds
like a fun project I might benefit from in some way.
