I am not convinced that flossing twice a day is particularly necessary but dentists always say you should floss your teeth at least twice a day and who cares enough to do that? Dentists. Dentists are just a bunch of nerds, but about teeth.

In other news, I need to wean myself off of this writing style I seem to think is funny where I write run-on sentences with no/too many commas

weird, i just finished an enjoyable thorough flossing session after going two weeks without flossing on account of forgetting my floss at home over spring break and not caring enough to buy some more (hows that for a run on sentence)

Yeah, flossing is kind of a weird compulsive thing for me -- I don't floss my teeth particularly often, but I will be sitting around and suddenly I want to floss my teeth and IF I CAN'T FIND MY FLOSS I WILL GO INSANE

I rarely floss and my teeth are pretty much perfect the last I checked. Maybe it's because I often get fucking serious with toothbrushes so there's no need for it, or something. I think many people "brush their teeth" by just sort of like rubbing the brush around their mouth for ten seconds.

I was really bad about brushing my teeth when I was a kid, but they survived anyway somehow. Everyone in my family has really strong teeth or something

I brush once or twice a day and actually make some modicum of effort to remove objectionable residue from the surface of my teeth so that seems to pretty much take care of it

I also have this weird habit where I will take a washcloth to the surface of my teeth and kind of give them a quick crud-removing rubdown when brushing my teeth properly is not practical. I think I picked that up from my mom or some other crazy person

Dunno if this is the same impulse but when I was a kid sometimes I used to be all "man I wish I had like a needle right now I need to clean my teeth and Wood Toothpick / Nylon Toothbrush won't cut it" -- now that I'm at an age where my parents won't kill me even if I do stick a needle in my mouth I tend to refrain from doing that since it would probably scratch my enamel or some such shit (wouldn't it).

the washcloth thing is what you're supposed to do for little kids but you probably know that
not that it's unacceptable to do it after grade school

Well I hope you're not trying to use the tip of a needle, but rather the side - I'd imagine actually more like a pin, with a sort of convex taper at the tip (adjust the angle of incidence for different size coverage, etc.)

I don't dentist a ton, no. Usually the only advice I get from them is the standard "here's your free toothbrush, don't forget to floss regularly" speech. And some congratulations about having good teeth, or something (:?)

I do that with my hoody sleeve if I'm in public or go to a restaurant and feel like there's junk on my teeth, haha!

I also brush my teeth.

I floss a couple times a week, but sometimes I'll go a month without doing it. The last time I went to the dentist (about a month ago) he actually assumed that I floss every day and said I was doing a great job. Ha!
