I'm pretty excited about the current batch of songs I'm working on. It's been way too long since I actually had the time to sit down and Make a Song.
I've for damn sure gotten way better at everything since the last time I subjected you people to my horrible shit. For instance, I have more stylistic variety now and not all my songs are some crazy shit with a directionless melody and a ton of square waves. But I know some of you people like that, though, and so do I, so it's not as though I've stopped making things like that altogether. I'm sure anyone who liked the 2006 BOX TEAM release is going to love my new crap.
Depending on the prevailing wind direction and shit, I might actually let you people listen to this demo tomorrow if I can get a reasonable amount of it done soon. I need to actually record a few parts and probably rewrite a really cheap key change to IV (i'm tony gies and i have key changes to IV) toward the end.
I've started kind of getting my shit back together and I have about five demos I'm working on and a million ideas. I've picked up work again on some of the better of my old unfinished projects, too.
So here's my Sound To-Do List:
- Short-term:
- Send my headphones back to the stupid factory so they can REMOVE A HAIR FROM THE TRANSDUCER
- Finish redoing the BOX TEAM, Slugbug, and SOUND CLUB websites (this should have been done months ago; I am a worthless bum). The SOUND CLUB website is going to operate a kind of central database which keeps track of my musical projects as well as my friends', cataloging all songs, corresponding audio files, albums/releases, contributing persons, etc. This is going to have some fun integration with last.fm and things like that. Also, the BOX TEAM website is going to be less of a horrible eyesore, and hopefully all the horrible songs my pretend internet friends and I have turned out will finally be easily found in one central location.
- Host some kind of a tracker compo.
- Finish some songs. Current projects include the following tentatively-titled tracks:
- Why The Moon Has Left Us
- DAYLIGHT NOCTURNE
- IDIOT [yes kyung i am finishing this ok shut up]
- I'm My Own Sovereign Nation (Ha-Hey (Yeah))
- Life in the Information Age [BORN IN A FARADAY CAGE this song is really great because it sounds exactly like some pop-punk Blink 182 shit but it is kind of nerdy.)
- Replace keyboard
- Get a Yamaha FB-01
- Get a bass clarinet
- Tune up shitty organ
- Consider getting some kind of piano instruction, because my fingering is horrible and I have weird habits and I need someone to yell at me and make me stop them.
- Less-short term:
- Finish and release the BOX TEAM album I said I'd release in late 2006 or early 2007 (I'm glad I didn't, because now it will suck a lot less)
- Get an Ensoniq SQ-80 and/or a Casio CZ (CZ-1000 or better, probably) and/or a Yamaha DX-7 and/or some kind of old Roland trash and/or a Yamaha SHS-10
- Finish designing POCKET DRUMS and POCKET DRUMS SP: analog and sample-based (respectively) pocket drum machines and sequencers
- I should probably actually own a guitar before the music police show up and arrest me
- Replace busted-ass accordion
yeah
by the way, this progression is ridiculously cute: (all triads played with inv. pedal point for total four voices) A/C# - Dmaj7 - C#m7/E* - F#/E - D - Dmmaj7 Dm A/C# - E7 -
deal with it
* lol or is it E6? Nobody knows
