Anybody got a USB MIDI interface I can have for less than $40? Or better yet, less than $12, since it seems like I can get one on eBay for around that much? MIDI on my sound card is really unreliable, for some reason; it seems like it buffers everything in some terrible way and winds up gagging on SysEx messages and fast bits and stuff.
Also, I made a fun discovery recently: They killed MPU-401/MIDI UART support in Vista. Cute.

Date: 2008-10-11 08:55 pm (UTC)one could maybe write a driver which directly twiddles bits at 0x330, but I don't know how Vista's memory protection would put up with that. I imagine someone would have done it if it was possible.
